B.Ed, Equine Sports Therapist (E.S.T.), Certified Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator.
Horses have always been an essential part of my life. My entire family rode throughout our childhood and enjoyed nature and the healing energy that horses project. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alberta and I was honoured to receive the Edwin Parr Teacher Award in 2003, recognizing my passion for connecting with youth.
As my family grew horses continued to be a grounding factor in my life and while raising our family, I returned to school to complete my certification in Equine Sports Therapy (BCCET). This certification allowed me to spend countless hours working with all different types of horses, and above all taught me that horses will continually magnify the need for us to be present.
No matter what avenue my life took horses were always a constant and pulled me back in time and time again to the incredible empowerment horses create. Finally, all of my education and horse partnerships came together with my certification as an Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator. This allowed me the opportunity to witness, first hand, the effectiveness of working with a horse to empower others.
Equine Empowerment gives individuals the opportunity to be a leader and expert, creating the self-esteem needed for foundational change. Partnering students with these amazing animals creates a dynamic that will, root change, promote healing and build confidence in the learner. It is my goal to broaden the outlook of students by making a connection through empathy and enabling successful transformation of behaviour patterns.
I deeply believe that every student will be positively impacted by the support and connection that a horse provides. I believe it is my purpose to work with students and horses, empowering them to achieve definite success.
